Maker / Origin
Nishikawa Sukenobu (1671–1750) was a master printmaker and painter based in Kyoto, renowned for defining the classical beauty ideal (*bijin-ga*) and genre scenes before Harunobu and Utamaro. His works directly inspired generation after generation of Ukiyo-e masters across Japan.
