Overview
This is a beautifully hand-painted porcelain covered box decorated in the vibrant 'famille verte' (wucai) enamel palette. The domed lid features an elegant narrative scene of courtly figures, a horse-drawn carriage, and lush landscape elements, framed by a classic diaper-pattern border.
Story
Created as a tribute to the golden age of Chinese porcelain, this box bears a Kangxi reign mark on its base. While made later, it captures the exact spirit of 17th-century scholar-class luxury, where such boxes held precious seal paste or cosmetics.
Maker / Origin
Produced by highly skilled artisans in Jingdezhen, the historic porcelain capital of China. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, these workshops experienced a major revival, meticulously recreating the celebrated masterpieces of the Ming and early Qing dynasties for eager global collectors.
Condition & Value
The porcelain appears to be in very good condition with no visible cracks or major chips. There is minor, expected wear to the unglazed mating rims and slight rubbing to the overglaze enamels on the lid's high points. Excellent preservation of the lid and base set commands a premium.
