Overview
A classic American lockback folding knife featuring a clip-point blade and a distinctive wood-grain handle with a green bolster. This piece represents the era when the outdoor giant Coleman acquired the legendary Western Cutlery company, merging two titans of American camping history.
Story
In 1984, Coleman bought Western Cutlery, a company that had been making blades since the 1800s. This knife was built for the rugged American weekend, designed to be as reliable as a Coleman lantern at a dark campsite.
Maker / Origin
Western Cutlery was founded in Boulder, Colorado, and became famous for their 'L' shaped tang and high-quality hunting knives. After Coleman acquired them, they produced these durable, branded tools until the factory eventually closed in the early 90s, making these 'Coleman-Western' crossovers a specific chapter in cutlery history.
Condition & Value
The blade shows some surface spotting and signs of sharpening, which is common for a tool meant for use. The handle scales appear intact, though the green bolster shows minor scuffing. These signs of use reduce the value compared to a 'New Old Stock' specimen.
