Overview
A collection of ten vintage, die-cut cardboard beer coasters (or 'beer mats') advertising Double Diamond Original Burton Ale. These oval-shaped mats feature the Royal Warrant of Appointment to Her Majesty the Queen, showcasing the brand's historic prestige.
Story
Double Diamond was the undisputed king of British pale ales in the mid-20th century, fueled by the famous 1950s advertising slogan 'A Double Diamond works wonders.' These imported mats brought a taste of British pub culture directly to international taverns.
Maker / Origin
Ind Coope was founded in the early 19th century in Romford, Essex, before expanding to Burton-upon-Trent to take advantage of the region's legendary brewing water. Double Diamond, first brewed in 1876, became their flagship brand and one of the most heavily marketed beers in British history.
Condition & Value
The coasters appear to be in excellent, unused vintage condition with no water stains, ring marks, or major fading. There is minor edge wear and light toning on the blank reverse sides consistent with age. Excellent condition commands a premium. Individual vintage beer coasters of this era typically sell for $2 to $4 each.
