Overview
This is a four-legged rectangular censer, known as a 'fangding', modeled after ancient ritual bronze forms. Executed in underglaze blue and white porcelain, its four panels depict Daoist Immortals and scholars, elevated on beast-mask cabriole feet with upright loop handles.

Ancient Chinese emperors cast massive bronze fangding vessels for sacred state rituals over 3,000 years ago. Centuries later, porcelain masters transformed this imposing imperial symbol into an elegant incense burner for a scholar's studio.
Maker / Origin
Crafted in the famed kilns of Jingdezhen, the porcelain capital of China. For over a millennium, workshops here have specialized in reviving classical imperial shapes, blending Ming and Qing decorative traditions with centuries-old ceramic formulas.
