Overview
A comprehensive mid-century Thai bronze flatware and serving set, complete with its original velvet-lined wooden presentation chest. This extensive service features stylized, elegant handles with traditional Thai relief detailing, showcasing the golden-hued bronze alloy that became a signature export of post-war Thailand.
Story
During the mid-20th century, Western tourists and military personnel stationed in Southeast Asia fell in love with Thailand's gleaming bronze tableware. This set, complete with its original Bangkok factory tag, represents a golden age of travel and exotic dining design.
Maker / Origin
The 'Central Jewelry Factory' located on Srikuk Phayasri in Bangkok was one of several mid-century workshops catering to the booming export and tourist trade. These factories combined traditional metal-casting techniques with Western-style flatware configurations to create highly desirable, exotic souvenirs for international homes.
Condition & Value
The set appears largely complete and retains its original wooden box with red velvet lining. There is visible tarnish and surface oxidation on several bronze pieces, which is typical for this alloy but can be polished. The wooden box shows minor exterior wear consistent with age.
