Overview
A classic English earthenware teapot featuring a gadrooned (fluted) base heavily finished in gold luster with a romantic transfer-print of pink and charcoal roses.
Story
Following the end of World War II, British potteries were finally released from 'Utility' restrictions that had banned decorative gilding and floral patterns to save resources for the war effort.
Maker / Origin
Arthur Wood & Sons was a cornerstone of the famous Staffordshire pottery district, operating out of the Bradwell Works in Longport since 1884.
Condition & Value
The teapot exhibits significant 'crazing'—the fine network of cracks in the glaze—which is extremely common for Arthur Wood earthenware of this age. There is visible wear to the gold luster on the spout and handle consistent with use.

Comparable demand stays strongest where maker, originality, and venue confidence line up. Broader examples still trade, but the range tightens quickly when provenance, condition, or selling lane fit is missing.
