Overview
A vibrant, hand-blown art glass vase featuring Blenko's iconic 'Persimmon' orange hue and a distinctive applied rigaree or 'pie crust' collar. The piece showcases a rough pontil mark on the base, a hallmark of traditional free-blown glassmaking techniques.
Story
West Virginia's river valleys were once the heart of American glass. This fiery orange vessel survived the 1960s, bringing the warmth of a mountain sunset into a modern home. Its rough base proves it was snapped off a blowpipe by hand.
Maker / Origin
Blenko Glass has been a family-owned powerhouse since 1893, famously providing the stained glass for St. Patrick’s Cathedral. In the mid-century, designers like Winslow Anderson and Wayne Husted transformed the company into a leader of bold, colorful modern design.
Condition & Value
The glass appears clear with no visible 'sick glass' clouding. The rough pontil on the base is a manufacturing characteristic, not damage. Excellent condition preserves the full market value. Blenko collectors highly prize the 'Persimmon' color.
