Overview
A striking table lamp featuring a conical leaded glass shade with vibrant magenta slag glass panels and a decorative 'jeweled' border of green and purple cabochons. The shade rests on a cast metal base with a fluted, foliate design finished in an antiqued bronze patina.
Story
Louis Comfort Tiffany revolutionized home lighting by turning industrial glass into 'painting with light.' This piece captures that Gilded Age magic, using copper foil to bind hundreds of glass shards into a glowing crown.
Maker / Origin
While not an original 1900s Tiffany Studios piece, this lamp follows the 'copper foil' technique perfected by Tiffany’s 'Tiffany Girls.' These artisans, led by Clara Driscoll, hand-cut and soldered every individual piece of glass to create domestic masterpieces.
Condition & Value
The glass appears intact without visible heat cracks or 'spidering.' The bronze-finish base shows a consistent patina. Excellent condition for a leaded piece significantly stabilizes the value. Value is driven by the complexity of the leaded shade and the quality of the base.
