Overview
A striking pair of Mid-Century Modern modular cabinets designed by the legendary Milo Baughman, featuring highly figured olive ash burl wood veneers, integrated brass-toned metal trim, and illuminated glass display shelving. This set includes one open-shelf vitrine unit with mirrored backing and one closed-door bar or storage cabinet, epitomizing 1970s Hollywood Regency glamour.
Story
In the 1970s, American homes traded minimalist teak for the high-octane glamour of exotic burl wood and polished brass. Milo Baughman revolutionized this era by pairing wild, organic wood grains with strict, architectural geometry.
Maker / Origin
Milo Baughman (1923–2003) was a pioneer of modern design whose fifty-year partnership with manufacturer Thayer Coggin defined the look of mid-century and 1970s American living. His philosophy focused on functional, unpretentious, yet highly sophisticated furniture that was meant to be lived in, not just admired.
Condition & Value
The cabinets appear to be in very good vintage condition with a beautiful, glossy finish. Some minor scuffs, light scratches to the lacquer, and typical oxidation on the brass-toned trim are expected with age.
