Overview
A striking three-piece hand-blown art glass centerpiece set featuring a wide, low-profile purple bowl with concentric white and violet cane-like swirls. Nestled inside are two coordinating hand-blown glass spheres—one in a vibrant yellow-and-black swirl, and the other in a warm amber-rose iridescence.
Story
In the 1960s, American artists brought glassblowing out of industrial factories and into private studios. This set captures that rebellious spirit, turning functional tableware into a dynamic, interactive sculpture for the home.
Maker / Origin
While unsigned, this set is heavily inspired by the organic, sea-form shapes popularized by glass master Dale Chihuly and his contemporaries in the Pacific Northwest. Studio glass artists of this era focused on the fluid, molten state of glass, allowing centrifugal force and gravity to dictate the final, asymmetrical sweep of the bowl.
Condition & Value
The glass appears to be in excellent condition with no visible chips, cracks, or flea bites along the delicate rim. Minor shelf wear on the base of the bowl is normal and expected; excellent preservation of the polished pontils maintains the set's value.
