Overview
This is a classic mid-to-late 20th-century ceramic whiskey decanter jug produced for Tullamore Dew Blended Irish Whiskey. Featuring a traditional two-tone glaze with a deep green top and a cream-colored body, it retains its original stopper, decorative orange ribbon, and paper tax stamp. The front is decorated with the brand's iconic Irish wolfhounds and the historic slogan, 'Give every man his Dew.'
Story
In 1954, the original Tullamore distillery closed, but the brand survived by pioneering these iconic ceramic jugs. They became beloved symbols of Irish hospitality worldwide, bringing a piece of rustic Irish pub culture directly into mid-century American home bars.
Maker / Origin
Tullamore Dew was established in 1829 in Tullamore, County Offaly, Ireland, by Michael Elizabeth. The brand's name derives from the initials of an early general manager and later owner, Daniel E. Williams (D. E. W.), who transformed the small local distillery into a global powerhouse.
Condition & Value
The jug appears to be in excellent vintage condition with no visible cracks, chips, or major crazing. The original paper tax stamp is partially intact but shows wear, and the orange ribbon is still present. Excellent preservation of the transfer decals maintains its display value.
