Overview
A stunning example of Finnish glass design featuring concentric rings of raised glass droplets that mimic glistening dewdrops. This footed bowl, or 'mariskooli' style vessel, showcases the iconic 'Kastehelmi' (Dewdrop) pattern in a rich, earthy moss green.
Story
In 1964, Oiva Toikka was trying to hide unsightly joint marks in pressed glass. He covered the surface with tiny glass bubbles, inadvertently creating a masterpiece that revolutionized Finnish tabletop design for decades.
Maker / Origin
Oiva Toikka was one of the most legendary figures in Finnish glass, famous for his 'Birds by Toikka' collection. His work for Iittala moved away from the stark minimalism of the time, favoring organic textures and playful, nature-inspired motifs.
Condition & Value
The glass appears clear with no visible chips to the delicate raised droplets. The mold seams are crisp. Excellent condition generally maintains the higher end of the value range.
