Overview
This is a vintage 'Junior' model piano accordion featuring 17 treble keys and 8 bass buttons, finished in a classic mid-century white and black aesthetic. Produced by the renowned Hering company in Brazil, it was designed as a high-quality student instrument for young musicians during the golden age of accordion popularity.
Story
German immigrant Alfred Hering founded his factory in 1923 in Blumenau, a Brazilian city so German it looks like the Alps. While Hering became world-famous for harmonicas, these rare 'Junior' accordions were the secret weapon for aspiring South American prodigies before the factory was briefly sold to Hohner in the 1960s.
Maker / Origin
Alfred Hering was a visionary who brought German precision to the heart of Brazil, establishing one of the most respected musical instrument factories in the Southern Hemisphere.
Condition & Value
The exterior appears well-preserved with the bellows showing good alignment and the keys sitting level. There is some minor surface wear consistent with age; the most critical factor will be whether the internal leather valves have dried out or if the reeds remain in tune.
