An elegant baluster-form ceramic vase featuring an all-over turquoise copper-alkaline crackle glaze with fine crazing. The base bears incised handwritten script markings, characteristic of post-war studio and California craft pottery movements.
Story
Turquoise copper glazes trace back thousands of years to ancient Persia and Egypt. In the mid-20th century, studio potters revived the vibrant chemistry to bring brilliant jewel tones into modern homes.
Maker / Origin
The vase is marked on the unglazed/lightly glazed recessed base with incised cursive lettering that appears to read 'La...' with an additional script word or initials below. Individual studio potters and boutique workshops throughout North America and Europe often personalized each thrown or slip-cast piece with hand-incised workshop marks.
Condition & Value
The vase is in very good overall condition with vibrant glaze color and uniform crackle. Minor baseline scuffs and small glaze skips typical of handmade studio work. Excellent condition preserves its decorative appeal.
