Overview
A set of four heavy-walled glass votive holders featuring a distinct hammered or 'crackle' interior texture and a smooth exterior. These pieces are iconic examples of Finnish glass design, known for their exceptional light-refracting properties and deep, saturated color.
Story
Designed in 1988 by Heikki Orvola, these 'Kivi' (Finnish for 'stone') holders were created to celebrate the purity of glass. Their thick bases act as a prism, turning a simple candle flame into a glowing architectural statement.
Maker / Origin
Iittala began as a glass factory in 1881 and evolved into a pioneer of Scandinavian design, championing the idea that objects should be functional, durable, and beautiful. They are world-renowned for their unique color library, containing over 1,000 secret glass recipes.
Condition & Value
The glass appears clear with no visible chips or 'flea bites' on the rims. The presence of original retail stickers on two pieces suggests they may have seen little use, which preserves the value. Excellent condition overall. Value depends on the specific color rarity; 'Salmon Pink' and 'Seville Orange' are highly collectible.
