Story
In the post-WWII era, American suburbs boomed, and with them came a massive craze for bringing nature indoors. This humble planter was designed to sit on a sunny windowsill, holding African violets or small succulents in a modern home.
Maker / Origin
Founded in 1910 in Roseville, Ohio, the Nelson McCoy Sanitary Stoneware Company became one of the most beloved names in American utilitarian and decorative ceramics. They survived the Great Depression by pivoting from heavy stoneware jugs to whimsical, colorful art pottery and planters that everyday families could afford.
Condition & Value
The planter shows visible crazing in the glaze, which is very common for mid-century pottery of this type. There appears to be some minor glaze wear or small flea bites along the top rim. Clean interior and lack of major chips or cracks help preserve its modest value.
