During the 1920s, Bohemian glassmakers mastered dramatic, supersized paste stones that rivaled fine jewelry under nightclub chandeliers. This bold ruby-hued glass piece captured the glamor of the Jazz Age without the exorbitant price tag.
Maker / Origin
While unsigned, pieces of this design were heavily exported from the renowned Jablonec nad Nisou region of Bohemia (Czechoslovakia) and copied by American jewelry companies in Providence, Rhode Island. These centers pioneered mass-produced, high-quality molded and cut art glass stones set in stamped brass or pot metal.
Condition & Value
Good vintage condition. The ruby red glass stone appears bright with crisp facets, though light surface scuffing may be present. The metal gallery shows an authentic aged patina with light tarnish, and the safety pin mechanism appears intact. Retaining original glass without major edge chips supports its value.
