Overview

A sophisticated commemorative 3D glass sculpture depicting the vast 'Pit No. 1' of the Terracotta Army. This piece uses internal laser etching to recreate the scale and depth of the archaeological site where…

Story

In 1974, local farmers digging a well near Xi'an accidentally unearthed what is now considered the 'Eighth Wonder of the World': the silent, subterranean army of China's first emperor, Qin Shi Huang.

Maker / Origin

While produced by specialized technical workshops rather than a single artist, these pieces are official commissions for the Museum of the Terracotta Army in Xi'an.

Condition & Value

The crystal appears to be in excellent condition with no visible chips or internal 'bruising.' The presentation box shows minor shelf wear but retains its original gold-stamped lettering and satin lining. Excellent preservation of the paper insert maintains its collector value.

Market Analysis

Comparable demand stays strongest where maker, originality, and venue confidence line up. Broader examples still trade, but the range tightens quickly when provenance, condition, or selling lane fit is missing.

Value Drivers

  • Strong maker attribution with credible period details
  • Better-than-average condition for the category
  • Broader demand rises when presentation and finish feel intact

Concerns

  • Decorative-only demand limits the ceiling
  • Surface wear or missing provenance can compress the range fast
  • Regional sale lanes often underperform specialist venues
