Story
Centuries ago, Japanese kilns paid homage to legendary Ming ceramics by inscribing reverent Chenghua reign marks on their own masterworks. Kept safe in a lacquered storage box, this bowl celebrated longevity and good fortune.
Maker / Origin
Produced by master porcelain artisans in the Arita region of Saga Prefecture, renowned for inventing Japanese porcelain in the early 17th century. Arita potters frequently adapted classical Chinese Jiajing and Wanli imperial motifs into their distinctively rich, brocade-like export and domestic wares, known internationally as Imari.
Condition & Value
Appears to be in very good antique condition with typical minor rubbing to the overglaze gilding and expected manufacturing kiln grit around the footring. The brown-dressed rim shows intentional antique-style character. Preserved with a traditional fitted storage box.
