Overview
A vibrant trio of original vintage Mutoscope arcade pin-up cards featuring mid-century glamour illustrations, including titles 'Sweet and Slow', 'Open Season', and 'Shape Ahoy'. These heavy cardstock lithographs were sold via coin-operated vending machines in amusement arcades and boardwalks across America during the 1940s.
Story
In the 1940s, a single nickel in a penny arcade dropped these glamorous cards right into the hands of servicemen and teens. Two of these feature artwork by legendary illustrator Earl Moran, who famously worked with a young Marilyn Monroe.
Maker / Origin
The International Mutoscope Reel Company produced coin-operated devices and card dispensers beginning in the late 19th century. Renowned pin-up artist Earl Moran was one of their marquee illustrators, celebrated for his soft-pastel style, dynamic poses, and realistic lighting, which helped define golden-age American glamour art.
Condition & Value
The cards appear in crisp, very good to excellent vintage condition with strong, saturated colors and sharp edges, showing only minor light corner wear consistent with age. Excellent preservation free of creases or tears retains full collector value.
