Overview
This is a German Hitler Youth field knife (Fahrtenmesser) featuring an etched motto 'Blut und Ehre!' on the blade obverse. The ricasso displays transitional markings from 1937, including the WKC knight's helmet logo and an RZM code, complete with its original metal scabbard and leather hanger.
Story
Introduced in 1933, these youth knives were modeled after German trench daggers. By 1937, strict RZM regulations began replacing traditional Solingen maker marks, making transitional examples with both logos especially sought-after.
Maker / Origin
Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Cie (WKC) was formed in 1883 by merging two venerable Solingen blade-making families whose heritage dated back centuries. WKC became one of Germany's premier edge-weapon manufacturers, famous for its distinctive knight's helmet trademark.
Condition & Value
Shows honest age-appropriate wear including blade spotting/motto fading, plating wear along the pommel and crossguard, and heavy leather cracking on the scabbard strap. Strong original profile remains without severe post-war sharpening.
