Story

Before the 1950s, these cans were the vital link between family farms and city doorsteps. Every morning, millions of these were hauled to 'milk stops' along rural railroads. This one has survived the transition from tool to treasure.

Maker / Origin

While often produced by companies like Solar-Sturges or Buhl, these were frequently embossed with the name of the specific dairy or the farmer's initials to ensure they returned to the right owner after processing. They were built to be indestructible, surviving decades of rough handling on gravel roads.

Condition & Value

The can shows significant surface oxidation and paint loss consistent with age. The green paint is non-original and there is no visible lid. This 'honest wear' is preferred by many collectors, though it keeps the price in the decorative range. The lack of a lid reduces value by about 40%.
