Overview
A quintessential piece of American Mid-Century decorative metalwork featuring a hand-hammered copper centerpiece bowl flanked by integrated candle holders. The ruffled, organic edges and warm, glowing patina exemplify the 'California Copper' style that brought artisanal warmth to modern homes.
Story
Founded by Fred and P.R. Gregori in 1946, this workshop turned copper into a California dream. Their signature 'stippled' signature on the base was applied by hand, ensuring no two pieces felt exactly the same in a world of plastic.
Maker / Origin
The Gregori brothers began their craft in a small garage before expanding to a famous facility in San Clemente. They became icons of the American Arts and Crafts revival, known for their 'hand-hammered' aesthetic that celebrated the marks of the maker's tools.
Condition & Value
The piece shows a lovely aged patina with minor surface oxidation consistent with age. The hand-stamped signature on the underside of the bowl remains crisp and legible. Polishing would increase brightness but may remove the desirable vintage character. Gregorian copper is widely collected but plentiful.
