Overview

This is a complete five-piece set of the highly sought-after 'Spice Girls On Tour' fashion dolls, featuring Victoria, Mel B, Mel C, Emma, and Geri. Released at the absolute peak of 'Spice Mania,' these dolls captured the distinct style, attitude, and global cultural impact of the ultimate 1990s girl group.

Story

In 1997, the Spice Girls signed a licensing deal with Galoob that would trigger a global retail frenzy. These dolls became the best-selling celebrity dolls of all time, shifting over 11 million units worldwide. They represent a watershed moment when 'Girl Power' transformed from a grassroots feminist slogan into a multi-billion dollar commercial empire.

Maker / Origin

Galoob Toys, famous for Micro Machines and Polly Pocket, secured the toy license of the decade with the Spice Girls. Their attention to the distinct personalities and stage outfits of each member set a new standard for celebrity dolls. Shortly after this massive success, Galoob was acquired by toy giant Hasbro in late 1998.

Condition & Value

The dolls themselves appear to be in unused condition inside their original boxes. However, the packaging shows significant wear, most notably a large, jagged hole torn into the bottom corner of the Mel B (Scary Spice) box. There is also sticker residue, edge wear, and minor creasing on the other boxes.

Market Analysis

Comparable demand stays strongest where maker, originality, and venue confidence line up. Broader examples still trade, but the range tightens quickly when provenance, condition, or selling lane fit is missing.

Value Drivers

  • Strong maker attribution with credible period details
  • Better-than-average condition for the category
  • Broader demand rises when presentation and finish feel intact

Concerns

  • Decorative-only demand limits the ceiling
  • Surface wear or missing provenance can compress the range fast
  • Regional sale lanes often underperform specialist venues
