Overview
A vibrant hand-painted tin-glazed earthenware plate featuring a central bird motif surrounded by scrolling floral vines. Produced by the Maioliche Nulli workshop, it showcases the classic 'Ricco Deruta' palette of cobalt blue, ochre, and green.
Story
Deruta has been a pottery powerhouse since the 13th century, surviving plagues and wars to remain Italy's ceramic heart. This plate carries the 'Ricco' pattern, a design originally inspired by the 16th-century frescoes of Perugino.
Maker / Origin
The Nulli workshop was one of the respected mid-century producers in Deruta, a town where nearly every resident is involved in the ceramic trade. They specialized in high-quality majolica that exported the 'Dolce Vita' aesthetic to the world during Italy's post-war design renaissance.
Condition & Value
The plate appears to be in good vintage condition with no major cracks visible. There is minor evidence of 'crazing' or tiny glaze pops consistent with age; the wire hanger has caused some slight oxidation marks on the reverse which is common. Excellent condition for its age.
