Overview
This exquisite Japanese porcelain bowl features a pale celadon-glazed, fluted exterior surrounding a hand-painted underglaze blue botanical medallion in the center. The underside displays delicate blue continuous scrollwork along the lobed rim and a traditional Japanese underglaze mark within the foot ring.
Story
Japanese potters in the late 19th century perfected combining soft celadon glazes with deep cobalt blue underglazes. This technique blended ancient Chinese Song Dynasty aesthetic traditions with refined Japanese porcelain techniques.
Maker / Origin
Produced in the historic kilns of Arita, the cradle of Japanese porcelain manufacturing since the early 17th century. Arita artisan workshops specialized in producing high-quality porcelain both for domestic daily use and international export.
