Overview
This is a highly detailed, embossed tin lithograph advertising sign featuring the iconic 'Inspector' character endorsing Sunny Brook Whiskey. Prominently displaying the slogan 'The Pure Food Whiskey is INSIDE the Bottle!', the sign showcases a realistic depiction of a bottled-in-bond whiskey bottle complete with its green tax stamp.
Story
Passed in 1906, the Pure Food and Drug Act forced distillers to prove their whiskey was untainted. Sunny Brook responded with this brilliant campaign, turning a government inspector into their ultimate brand champion.
Maker / Origin
The Sunny Brook Distillery was established in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1891 by Rosenfield Bros. & Co. It quickly grew into one of the state's largest and most technologically advanced distilleries, famous for its massive brick warehouses and aggressive, high-quality lithographic marketing campaigns that set the standard for the spirits industry.
Condition & Value
The sign shows some minor paint loss and light oxidation along the top and right edges, but the central graphic of the Inspector and the bottle remains remarkably vibrant and free of major dents. The embossing is sharp and undamaged.
