In the late 1920s, Indiana gas boom-town Muncie became an unlikely hotspot for avant-garde design. This vase represents a brief, brilliant window when industrial clay was transformed into affordable, high-art pottery for everyday American homes.
Maker / Origin
Muncie Clay Products operated from 1919 to 1931, rising from the ashes of a utility pottery company. Under the artistic direction of master ceramicists like Reuben Haley, they produced highly collectible Art Deco and Spanish Revival shapes. The Great Depression ultimately forced the company to close its doors, making their surviving output highly sought after by collectors today.
