Centuries ago, Japanese potters developed the swirling 'Fuku' mark as a seal of good fortune. This dish translates classical Chinese landscape poetry into an intimate tabletop scene meant for sophisticated banquet service.
Maker / Origin
Produced in the historic Arita ceramic center of Saga Prefecture. While the swirling 'Uzufuku' (渦福) mark is historically tied to the prestigious Kakiemon lineage, it was also widely used across fine Arita workshops from the mid-Edo period through the Meiji era to signal premier export and domestic tableware.
Condition & Value
Very good antique condition with intact iron-dressed rim (fuchibeni) showing only minimal glaze wear; reverse shows an original kiln burst or inclusion over the blue seal mark.
