The rim features a fine geometric diaper band, while the reverse is decorated with continuous scrolling floral arabesques above an unglazed foot ring.

Japanese wolves were revered as divine protectors of crops before their extinction in the early 1900s. Painted underglaze with soft cobalt, this plate captures an ethereal mountain spirit calling out beneath Mount Fuji.
Maker / Origin
Produced by skilled artisan potters in the Arita region of Hizen Province, these wares were shipped through the nearby port of Imari. Rather than bearing individual artist signatures, workshop masters collaborated to produce high-fired porcelain decorated in underglaze natural cobalt.

The plate appears to be structurally sound with typical kiln pinholes, minor firing specks, and slight surface rubbing consistent with age.
