Overview
An elegant multi-light bronze candelabra featuring a classical draped female figure supporting a cornucopia-style central shaft. The figure stands atop a stepped black marble base, supporting five scrolled candle arms decorated with acanthus leaf motifs.
Story
In 19th-century Parisian salons, lighting was theater. This classical maiden, holding aloft a cornucopia of light, was designed to cast a warm, flickering glow over evening guests, celebrating the romance of antiquity.
Maker / Origin
While unsigned, this piece is crafted in the tradition of Parisian bronziers like Ferdinand Barbedienne or Maison Marnyhac. These workshops specialized in high-quality 'bronzes d'art' that brought the grandeur of Versailles and the Louvre into the homes of the rising industrial elite.
Condition & Value
The candelabra appears to be in very good antique condition with a rich, aged patina. There is minor surface oxidation on the brass arms and light dust in the crevices, which is normal and desirable. The marble base shows no major visible chips or cracks.
