Overview
A charming cobalt blue and white faience miniature plate depicting the church tower bell of Hvidovre, Denmark. This piece features the iconic 'three waves' mark representing Denmark's three straits and was produced in the famous Aluminia workshop.
Story
Danish families traditionally collected these small 'butter chips' to celebrate local landmarks. This specific scene captures the quiet dignity of the Hvidovre church tower, a beacon of community life since the medieval era.
Maker / Origin
Royal Copenhagen acquired the Aluminia factory in 1882, using it to produce 'Fajance' (faience), which allowed for bolder colors and more artistic, hand-painted designs than traditional porcelain. This collaboration defined the 'Danish Modern' ceramic aesthetic that swept the world.
Condition & Value
The plate shows some surface grime and minor staining on the reverse, but the glaze appears intact without major crazing or chips. Cleaning the back would improve its display appeal. Condition is average for its age. Miniature plates from this series are widely collected but plentiful.
