Overview
A classic mid-century Swiss timepiece featuring a 17-jewel manual wind movement and a 'Monorex' shock protection system. This model represents the elegant, understated side of Breitling before they became synonymous almost exclusively with bulky pilot chronographs.
Story
In the 1950s, Breitling was conquering the skies with the Navitimer, but they also crafted these 'Geneve' models for the sophisticated gentleman on the ground. This watch survived the transition from tool-watch utility to mid-century modern style.
Maker / Origin
Founded by Léon Breitling in 1884, the company became the official supplier to the Royal Air Force and United States Air Force. While famous for complex flight computers, their 1950s dress watches like this one showcase their mastery of slim, reliable Swiss engineering.
Condition & Value
The dial shows a lovely 'tropical' patina with some spotting consistent with age. The case has minor scratches and the spring bars are heavily oxidized; the lack of a strap and unknown service history slightly suppress the immediate value. Condition is honest and unrestored.
