Overview
A striking piece of contemporary studio pottery featuring a 'ruptured' or 'torn' clay body that reveals a hollow interior.
Story
High in the Cuyamaca Mountains of San Diego County, the small community of Santa Ysabel has long been a haven for artists inspired by the rugged landscape and the heritage of the Iipay Nation.
Maker / Origin
Signed simply 'Dina,' this artist operated out of the Santa Ysabel area, a region famous for its roadside art galleries and independent spirit.
Condition & Value
The ceramic body appears intact with no accidental chips; the 'tears' are intentional artistic choices. The feathers show some slight ruffling but are well-preserved. The presence of the original felt pads on the bottom suggests it was well-cared for as a display piece. Excellent condition for this type of mixed-media work.

Comparable demand stays strongest where maker, originality, and venue confidence line up. Broader examples still trade, but the range tightens quickly when provenance, condition, or selling lane fit is missing.
