Overview
A charming two-piece ceramic planter featuring a scalloped, lobed body in a rich forest green glaze with a contrasting sunny yellow interior. It comes complete with its original matching drip saucer, a rare survival for vintage utility pottery.
Story
Post-war suburban homes in the 1950s brought a massive boom in indoor gardening. This little vessel was designed to bring the freshness of nature directly onto a sunny kitchen windowsill or a mahogany coffee table.
Maker / Origin
While unsigned, this piece is highly characteristic of mid-century commercial art potteries such as McCoy, Hull, or various Japanese exporters who supplied American gift shops and florists during the post-war gardening craze.
Condition & Value
The planter appears to be in good vintage condition with some light crazing visible in the glaze on the underside. The presence of the matching saucer is a major plus. Excellent condition preserves the maximum decorative value.
