Post-WWII America saw a boom in complex, multi-function calendar wristwatches that offered high-end complications at accessible prices. Benrus captured this mid-century market by importing fine Swiss movements into stylish domestic cases. The whimsical serpentine pointer date hand became an iconic design signature of the era.
Maker / Origin
Founded in New York in 1921 by three brothers—Benjamin, Ralph, and Oscar Lazrus—Benrus combined their names to create the brand. By the 1940s, Benrus had grown into one of the largest watchmakers in the United States, famous for military field watches and innovative civilian calendar designs.
Condition & Value
