Overview
This is the highly sought-after 1982 vinyl box set of 'E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial,' narrated by Michael Jackson and produced by Quincy Jones. It features a storybook, poster, and a unique soundtrack experience that bridged the worlds of Hollywood cinema and pop royalty. Because of legal disputes between MCA and Epic Records, this release was quickly withdrawn, making it a legendary piece of music history.
Story
In 1982, Steven Spielberg personally asked Michael Jackson to narrate this storybook album. A fierce legal battle erupted between rival record labels immediately after its release, forcing MCA to withdraw the box set from shelves almost overnight.
Maker / Origin
MCA Records partnered with legendary producer Quincy Jones and pop superstar Michael Jackson to create this immersive audio experience. Jackson, who felt a deep personal connection to the character of E.T., even wrote and recorded the exclusive song 'Someone in the Dark' specifically for this project.
Condition & Value
The outer box shows some light edge wear and minor scuffing consistent with age and storage. The vinyl and inner contents cannot be fully assessed from the photo, but the box structurally appears intact. Complete sets with the poster intact command a premium. Value is highly dependent on completeness and condition.
