Overview
A stunning set of six French molded crystal tumblers featuring a paneled lower body, starburst base, and an amberina-flashed upper rim. The golden-amber band is beautifully accented with a delicate, wheel-carved laurel leaf pattern that catches the light elegantly.
Story
Crafted in the Vosges region of France during the interwar period, these tumblers brought affordable luxury to European tables. The golden-amber flash was designed to mimic expensive solid art glass, offering middle-class homes a taste of Parisian cafe sophistication.
Maker / Origin
The Portieux and Vallerysthal glassworks merged in 1872 to become one of France's most prestigious commercial glass alliances. Famous for their whimsical molded animal dishes and elegant table services, they defined French everyday luxury for over a century.
Condition & Value
The glasses appear to be in very good vintage condition with no major chips or cracks visible. There is minor, expected wear to the amber flashing and gilt-like rim from age and washing. Excellent preservation of the delicate etched details. Value is driven by having a complete, matching set of six in good condition.
