Overview
A vintage doll-sized steamer trunk featuring a grey canvas exterior with faux-leather trim and brass-toned hardware. The interior is lined with a signature burgundy patterned paper and includes functional drawers and a hanging rod for doll apparel.
Story
In 1986, educator Pleasant Rowland reimagined playtime as a history lesson. This trunk wasn't just a toy; it was a portal to the past, designed to house the elaborate worlds of characters like Samantha and Molly.
Maker / Origin
Pleasant Rowland founded Pleasant Company to provide girls with dolls that had 'heart and soul' through historical fiction. Before being acquired by Mattel in 1998, the company was known for its high-quality, heirloom-grade accessories that mirrored actual Victorian and mid-century craftsmanship.
Condition & Value
The exterior canvas appears clean with minor scuffing on the corner guards. The interior paper lining looks intact without the common peeling or water damage often seen in these units. Excellent preservation of the original white boxes adds significant value.
