These leaflets were designed and mass-produced by psychological warfare operations within the Imperial Japanese Army (such as intelligence sections attached to the China Expeditionary Army). Skilled propagandists tailored the typography, symbols, and Classical/Vernacular Chinese phrasing specifically to exploit troop weariness, homesickness, and fear.
