This is a vintage Chinese export porcelain saucer featuring a Neoclassical-inspired black and taupe scrollwork border accented with gilt trim. The underside bears the backstamp of 'MADE IN CHINA', '中国博山' (China Boshan), and the '宝石' (Diamond/Gemstone) trademark logo.
Story
Manufactured in Boshan, an ancient ceramics capital in Shandong, this saucer was made for the post-Cultural Revolution Western export boom. It cleverly blends traditional Western tableware motifs with durable Chinese porcelain.
Maker / Origin
Boshan (in modern Zibo) has been a vital center for ceramic and glass production in China for over a millennium. During the late 20th century, its state-owned factories produced refined dinnerware under various brand marks, such as 'Diamond' (宝石), tailored specifically for international dining sets.
Condition & Value
Appears to be in good vintage condition with minor surface rubbing and slight wear to the gilt trim consistent with age and light use. Normal minor wear to the unglazed foot rim. Good condition maintains baseline utility value.
