Story

Born in Bristol, England in 1884, the real Nipper loved to bite the backs of visitors' legs. When his owner passed away, his brother inherited Nipper and a phonograph, noticing how the dog listened intently to his late master's recorded voice. This poignant moment was captured in a painting that became the ultimate symbol of high-fidelity sound.

Maker / Origin

While the original painting was purchased by the Gramophone Company in 1899, the RCA Victor company popularized Nipper in the United States. Over the decades, RCA commissioned various pottery workshops in the US and Japan to produce these ceramic figurines in sizes ranging from tiny pocket-sized versions to massive store displays.

Condition & Value

The figurine appears to be in very good vintage condition with no visible cracks, chips, or major crazing in the glaze. The green felt protective pads on the bottom paws are later additions to protect tabletop surfaces. Excellent preservation of the glossy glaze and hand-painted details helps maintain its value.
