Story
Long before plastic, French households relied on thick stoneware jars from the Marne valley to preserve seasonal jams and confits. The dense clay naturally sealed out light and air to keep preserves fresh through cold winters.
Maker / Origin
The LAB pottery (Les Artisans Briards / Céramiques LAB), based in Lagny-sur-Marne just east of Paris, was celebrated for producing durable, high-quality utilitarian stoneware for French grocers, confectioners, and homes throughout the 20th century.
Condition & Value
Appears to be in very good vintage condition with clean glaze coverage, an intact rim, and honest shelf wear on the unglazed base. The absence of chips or structural hairlines preserves its full decorative value.
