Overview
These are commemorative relief-molded plates produced for 'The American Potter' exhibit at the 1939 New York World's Fair.
Story
The 1939 World's Fair in Queens, New York, was themed 'The World of Tomorrow,' but these plates were designed to honor the ancient roots of craftsmanship.
Maker / Origin
The Homer Laughlin China Company of West Virginia is one of the most storied names in American ceramics, best known for the colorful Fiesta line introduced in 1936.
Condition & Value
The plates appear to be in excellent vintage condition with crisp relief details. There are minor stilt marks on the back from the kiln firing process, which are original to the manufacture and do not detract from the value.

Build on this identification
Layer in sold comps, value drivers, and venue guidance.
Comparable demand stays strongest where maker, originality, and venue confidence line up. Broader examples still trade, but the range tightens quickly when provenance, condition, or selling lane fit is missing.
