At the turn of the 20th century, European elite obsessed over bringing nature indoors. This vessel was designed specifically to hold lush, Victorian ferns, transforming drawing rooms into miniature, romanticized forest glades.

Maker / Origin

The Reinhold Schlegelmilch (R.S.) porcelain factory, established in the late 19th century, became legendary for its incredibly thin, translucent porcelain and mastery of iridescent glazes. Their artisans combined transfer prints with meticulous hand-painted embellishments, creating dreamlike scenes that defined the Gilded Age aesthetic.

Condition & Value

The planter shows some expected light wear to the gilded highlights along the ruffled rim and feet, which is typical for its age. There are no obvious large chips or cracks visible in the photos, but the delicate, pointed tips of the rim are highly prone to flea bites and should be felt carefully.
