Overview
A charming set of four fine porcelain dessert plates featuring vibrant, hand-accented transfer-ware fruit still lifes. Each plate is finished with a delicate hand-painted gold gilt rim, characteristic of the high-quality export wares from the Bavarian region.
Story
The 'Western Germany' label dates these to a divided Europe, where West German factories like Kaiser became global symbols of democratic craftsmanship. These were the 'Sunday best' plates for a generation that valued formal hospitality.
Maker / Origin
Founded in 1872 by August Alboth, Kaiser Porcelain survived the upheavals of two World Wars to become one of Germany's most prestigious manufacturers. They are world-renowned for their 'bisque' porcelain and were even commissioned to create official gifts for the White House.
Condition & Value
The plates appear to be in very good vintage condition with vibrant colors. The gold rims show minimal rubbing, which is the primary factor in maintaining their value. Condition is excellent. Individual Kaiser fruit plates typically sell for $15-$25 each, while a coordinated set of four in excellent condition commands a premium.
