During the height of the global maritime trade, Chinese potters in Jingdezhen crafted porcelain specifically tailored to Western tastes. This vase blends traditional Chinese high-fired porcelain with European Neo-Classical motifs popular in Georgian England and Federal-era America.
Maker / Origin
While the individual artisans of Jingdezhen remain anonymous, they operated within a highly sophisticated, assembly-line guild system. One specialist threw the clay, another glazed it, and highly skilled painters applied the delicate blue and gold enamels to match sample drawings sent from Europe.
Condition & Value
The photos show minor wear and rubbing to the overglaze gold detailing, particularly around the upper rim and the central urn medallion, which is typical for its age.
