Story
Starting in 1945 in a basement in Dubuque, Iowa, foundry worker Fred Ertl began casting toy tractors from recycled aluminum scrap. His durable toys soon became the gold standard for farm kids across rural America.

The Ertl Company was founded by Fred Ertl Sr. and grew into the world's preeminent manufacturer of die-cast agricultural replicas. Partnering directly with John Deere, Case, and International Harvester, Ertl produced scale models that were sold both as promotional items at farm equipment dealerships and as retail toys.
