Overview
This is a versatile, high-ratio megazoom lens designed specifically for APS-C format digital SLR cameras. It features Tamron's proprietary Vibration Compensation (VC) image stabilization and a Piezo Drive (PZD) ultrasonic motor for quiet, rapid autofocusing.
Story
Introduced in late 2010, this lens solved the traveler's ultimate dilemma by packing a 15x zoom range into a chassis no larger than a standard cup of coffee. It allowed photographers to capture sweeping landscapes and distant wildlife without ever changing lenses.
Maker / Origin
Founded in 1950 by Takeyuki Arai, Tamron began as a pioneer in optical development, naming itself after the legendary optical designer Uhyone Tamura. The company revolutionized consumer photography by proving that third-party lenses could match, and sometimes exceed, the engineering standards of major camera brands.
Condition & Value
The exterior barrel shows light cosmetic wear and dust accumulation in the rubber ridges, which is typical for travel lenses. The front element is protected by a filter, but the internal glass must be inspected for fungus, haze, or scratches. Excellent optical and mechanical condition commands a premium.
